Lyrus - Always agree with your posts most of the time, but this is one where i see your point, but think otherwise.
The vulture has always been outsniped by the Eagle. Even before the boost. The vulture had a longer lock time than the Eagle, coupled with a lack of damage bonus. And with HAC 4, the eagle did just the same dps, with less cost to ammo, and so on. Therefore, the only advantage the vulture had in sniping was simply that of more hp (a positive point, yes, but still could be popped very easily)
Before the patch, the Vulture had 5 turrets, no damage bonus. The Eagle was on 4 turrets with a 25% damage bonus at HAC 5, for 5 effective turrets.
Both had 4 lows. Vulture is on an extra mid, more ehps, and more powergrid, such that it can actually get two gang links on there, with a single fittings mod, as well as the 250mm rails.
*shrug*. I'm afraid I consider that a victory for the Vulture.
Now, the situation has changed - Eagle has gone up to 5 turrets, + 5%/level of HAC.
So 6.25 at HAC 5, or 6 with HAC 4.
That clearly shifts the balance - eagle steals a major lead in the role of 'can snipe frigates'. But it doesn't change the fact that the Vulture can still do so whilst running two ganglinks, and having significantly more EHPs. (Or if you're not using those ganglinks, you have 400 grid to play with for tank mods, and two highs to use as heatsinks).
Damnation doesn't outclass Sacrilege in DPS Eos doesn't outclass Diemos or Ishtar. Claymore doesn't outgun ... actually either vagabond or muninn.
In CBCs we have Damnation with 5 weapon hardpoints, and a single weapon bonus (range). (and two tank bonuses) Eos with 5 weapon hardpoints and a single weapon bonus (damage) (and more dronebay, so lets call that two weapon bonuses) Claymore with 5 weapon hardpoints, and two weapon bonuses (RoF and Tracking). And then the Vulture, with 5 weapon hardpoints, and two weapon bonuses, of range and range.
That looks about right to me.
That's leaving aside the rampant 'boost Eos' whining that would happen.
I think this might me a case where we see the same facts, but draw different conclusions as to what the end case should be :). So I shall leave it at that.
Oh, and I agree with whoever said the merlin could use another turret. I also think the Raptor really didn't need to lose any powergrid at all. |
